The Oklahoma Disciples Foundation gives thanks for the life and faithful witness of J. Alan Gibson (1937–2025) — a devoted disciple, generous steward, and lifelong member of First Christian Church Tulsa.
J.’s journey of faith began at Camp Christian, where at age eleven he accepted Jesus Christ into his heart. That moment shaped a life devoted to service, gratitude, and generosity. Whether as a Marine Corps Reservist, business leader, or church elder, J. lived out his faith daily — giving freely of his time, energy, and resources to bless others.
Together with his beloved wife, Mary Lou, J. helped lead the effort to build a new lodge at Camp Christian. In gratitude for their dedication, the lodge was named in their honor. Their commitment to ensuring the camp’s future continues through the Camp Christian J. Alan and Mary Louise Gibson Lodge Endowment, established at the Oklahoma Disciples Foundation. This endowment helps maintain and repair the Gibson Lodge for generations to come, supporting the vital ministries of Camp Christian that meant so much to J. and Mary Lou.
Those wishing to honor J.’s memory may make contributions to the Camp Christian J. Alan and Mary Louise Gibson Lodge Endowment through the Oklahoma Disciples Foundation.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
