On March 6–7, Disciples from across Oklahoma gathered at First Christian Church in Edmond for the 2026 Regional Assembly. Centered on the theme “When You Host a Banquet,” the Assembly offered time for worship, learning, and connection as our region came together as one body.
There were many meaningful moments throughout the weekend. The Friday evening concert featuring Emmy and Grammy recognized songwriter/poet Carrie Newcomer created a space for reflection and shared experience, while worship, workshops, and fellowship strengthened relationships across congregations. The Assembly also marked an important moment in the life of the region with the installation of Rev. Michael A. Davison Jr. as Regional Minister.
One of the most tangible expressions of the Assembly’s theme came through a hands-on service project sponsored by the Oklahoma Disciples Foundation in partnership with Stamp Out Starvation.

On Saturday, youth and sponsors from congregations including First Christian Church, Sulphur, Crown Heights Christian Church, Oklahoma City, First Christian Church, El Reno, First Christian Church, Ardmore, and Western Oaks Christian Church, Oklahoma City, packaged meals for those facing food insecurity. In just a few hours, participants assembled 16,344 meals, with each packet capable of feeding up to six individuals. As seen in the photos, youth and volunteers worked side by side in an assembly-line effort measuring, packing, and sealing each meal.

Stamp Out Starvation, based in Cherokee, Oklahoma, has been working since 2007 to address hunger both locally and around the world. Through the dedication of volunteers and supporters, the organization has provided millions of nutritious meals for those in need. Their work also involves sustainable programs like the Ayiti Manje initiative in Haiti. This program focuses on producing and utilizing locally sourced foods to create long-term, community-based solutions to hunger.
While many meals in past years have been sent to Haiti, the majority of the meals packaged at this year’s Assembly will likely be directed to Mexico. Through this effort, our regional gathering extended its reach far beyond Oklahoma, connecting the work of our churches with communities around the world. The stacks of boxes filled with food packets serves as a reminder of what can happen when many hands come together in service.

We are grateful for the youth, sponsors, and volunteers who gave their time and energy to make this project possible. We are reminded that when we gather as the Church, we serve as the hands and feet of Christ.
Together, we can touch lives.
